A bright and comfortable apartment just off the Royal Mile and a short walk from Waverley Train Station. 

Our Royal Mile apartment is part of a picturesque and historic courtyard in the heart of the Old Town and is an ideal base for those intent on taking in all that Scotland’s wonderful capital has to offer. 

Interior layout

This bright and tastefully decorated flat is on the first floor above ground level. It has two bedrooms, one king-sized and one twin, as well as a sofa bed in the living room that can be prepared for an additional guest.

The double bedroom features a spacious closet, two bedside tables with lamps, and a large chest of drawers. The airy twin bedroom contains two comfortable beds, a chest of drawers, and two bedside lamps. There’s plenty of storage space in the closet, and a mirror and rattan chair complete the space. The bathroom contains a full shower over bath.

The comfortable living and dining room features a comfortable sofa, television, sideboard and well-stocked bookshelf. The dining table seats up to four, and the room includes a cosy little balcony that overlooks tree-lined cobblestone square.

The kitchen is stocked with essentials for self-catering, including an oven, hob, and microwave. A washing machine is at your disposal, and a high chair and travel cot are available by request. This self-catering property has Wi-Fi, a hairdryer and an iron and ironing board.

Around and about

Chessel’s Court dates back to the 1700s and is steeped in local history. An open, tree-lined green marks the middle of the courtyard. Guests also have access to a private garden/growing area that is shared between the residents of the building.

The apartment is in an excellent position for exploring Edinburgh’s many historical and cultural attractions. Step out of the courtyard directly on to the famous Royal Mile, which runs from the Palace of Holyroodhouse all the way up to Edinburgh Castle (for about a mile, unsurprisingly), and is full of with bars, restaurants and independent shops. Why not head up to St. Giles Cathedral or drop in on a whisky bar and sample some of Scotland’s golden elixirs?

The apartment is less than a fifteen minute walk to the Castle and less than 10 minutes to the Palace of Holyroodhouse. The striking architecture of the Scottish Parliament is just across the street, with the beautiful and wild hills of Holyrood Park just beyond. A hike up Arthur’s Seat will provide incredible birds’ eye views of the city.

Chessel’s Court is especially convenient for guests arriving by train. Edinburgh Waverley Station is just a six minute walk away. Meanwhile, the shopping and restaurant thoroughfares along Princes Street and George Street in the New Town can likewise be reached in less than ten minutes.

Booking requirements

One member of the booking party must be over 25 years old. We reserve the right to vet any booking. We require the names and ages of all guests, as well as addresses and ID.

Important

This holiday apartment is not suitable for stag or hen parties. A damage deposit of £250 is required and will be fully refunded pending no damages one week after your departure. Alternatively, we can offer you an insurance policy to cover damages and excess cleaning. The cost of the policy will vary depending on the length of your stay.

House rules

  • This apartment accommodates a maximum of 5 guests. No unregistered guests are allowed to visit or stay overnight.
  • Parties, events, and large gatherings of any kind are strictly prohibited. All guests must comply with our other house rules regarding noise and the neighborhood.
  • Please do not engage in any anti-social behaviour. Guests must not behave in a way which causes, or is likely to cause, alarm, distress, nuisance or annoyance to any person; or which amounts to harassment of any person; or causes damage to anyone’s property. This includes high levels of noise and drunken or threatening behaviour, which is strictly prohibited.
  • No pets are allowed.
  • Please be respectful of your neighbours and keep any form of noise to a minimum between the hours of 9:00 pm and 7:30 a.m.
  • Strictly no smoking, vaping, candles, or incense burners. Smoking is not permitted in the apartment or outside the apartment building.

Check-in / Check-out

Check-in is from 16:00 until 22:00, or later by special arrangement.
You will be asked to check-out before 10:30.

It is important to check your email to ensure you have received these instructions before you arrive, as they contain all the necessary details to make your check-in process smooth and efficient. Should you prefer to receive the check-in instructions further in advance, please do not hesitate to let us know. We are more than happy to accommodate your request and ensure you have all the information you need well ahead of time.

Luggage Storage

You are welcome to store your luggage free of charge at our Greatbase Office, located at 24 St Stephen Street, during office hours from Monday to Friday. Please confirm your drop-off and collection time if you would like to use this service.
